Part1. What is Gentiana Scabra Root Extract?
Gentian root extract is extracted from the root and pole stem of Gentianaceae plant Gentiana scabra Bge. The main components are gentioside and gentiopicroside.
Part2. Pharmacological effects
1. Effects on the digestive tract:
Gentiana or gentiopicroside can promote the secretion of gastric juice and gastric acid. Giving oral administration of gentiopicroside to dogs with gastric fistula can promote the secretion of gastric juice, increase free hydrochloric acid, and increase appetite. However, sublingual smear or intravenous injection is ineffective, so it is believed that gentiopicroside can directly promote gastric secretion and increase free acid.

Gentian injection 10g/kg, injected into the ear vein, can increase the average urine output of 5 rabbits from 0.76ml per 30 minutes before administration to 2.64ml (p<0.1), suggesting that gentian has obvious diuretic effect.
4. Antibacterial effect:
14 species of Gentiana plants were tested, 7 of which had effects on rhizobia, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Agrobacterium tumefaciens. Gentiana water infusion has different degrees of inhibitory effects on skin fungi such as Trichophyton gypsum-like Nocardia star in test tubes. The test tube method proves that Longdan decoction has different degrees of inhibitory effects on Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, Salmonella typhi, Shigella, and Staphylococcus aureus.
5. Effects on the central nervous system:
Swertiamarin can inhibit the central nervous system and has analgesic and sedative effects. Antispasmodic effect on intestinal and uterine smooth muscle;
